The Board of Directors of the United Fund of Talbot County (UFTC) has announced the appointment of Butch Townsend, Vice President and Commercial Banking Officer of the Talbot Bank as the chairman of the 2014-15 Campaign.
As the only local philanthropic organization to support many charities in Talbot County, the United Fund’s purpose is to raise money to benefit its 20 participating agencies, enabling them to assist thousands of local needy individuals and families here in our community.
Mr. Townsend is a Talbot County resident involved in his community. He has served as a United Fund campaign advocate for many years and has also been a member of the United Fund agency review board for the past 3 years. He is also a current member of the Waterfowl Festival board, and has chaired the Festival’s Sportsman Pavilion for 10+ years. Butch is a past President of the Talbot Country Club and was the Chairperson for the Shore Health Systems annual golf tournament from 2005-13. He is also a past treasurer for the Talbot Ducks Unlimited.
“I am very pleased to have been asked to serve as the United Fund 2014-15 Campaign Chairman,” said Townsend. “It is a great organization with a long history of helping those in need in our community. With so many agencies reliant on the Fund, our goal is to make sure they can continue to offer their invaluable services to the residents of Talbot County.”
