Jason Brown Named New United Fund Director

The United Fund of Talbot County (UFTC) announced the unanimous election of Jason T. Brown as a new member to its governing board, Class of 2017 at a recent board of directors meeting. Fellow United Fund board members with whom he will serve include Joe Anthony, Zuleika Ghodsi, Glenn Klakring, Ron Lee, Chuck Mangold, Jr., Leslie Stevenson, Marie U’Ren and Jim Vermilye.

Jason has been in public accounting for eleven years. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a double major in accounting and finance. As a certified public accountant with Accounting Strategies Group, LLC, Jason specializes in consulting and tax advising for individuals and closely held businesses. He is also a Certified ProAdvisor for the QuickBooks software.

Jason is a member of the AICPA and Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Currently, he is treasurer for Caroline County Chamber of Commerce and served in the same capacity in the past for Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence. Jason resides in Easton with his wife Amy.

 


Butch Townsend to Chair United Fund 2014-15 Campaign

The Board of Directors of the United Fund of Talbot County (UFTC) has announced the appointment of Butch Townsend, Vice President and Commercial Banking Officer of the Talbot Bank as the chairman of the 2014-15 Campaign.

As the only local philanthropic organization to support many charities in Talbot County, the United Fund’s purpose is to raise money to benefit its 20 participating agencies, enabling them to assist thousands of local needy individuals and families here in our community.

Mr. Townsend is a Talbot County resident involved in his community. He has served as a United Fund campaign advocate for many years and has also been a member of the United Fund agency review board for the past 3 years. He is also a current member of the Waterfowl Festival board, and has chaired the Festival’s Sportsman Pavilion for 10+ years. Butch is a past President of the Talbot Country Club and was the Chairperson for the Shore Health Systems annual golf tournament from 2005-13. He is also a past treasurer for the Talbot Ducks Unlimited.

“I am very pleased to have been asked to serve as the United Fund 2014-15 Campaign Chairman,” said Townsend. “It is a great organization with a long history of helping those in need in our community. With so many agencies reliant on the Fund, our goal is to make sure they can continue to offer their invaluable services to the residents of Talbot County.”
