The United Fund of Talbot County serves as the only local philanthropic organization to support underfunded health and human services needs through many charities in Talbot County. Currently, there are 20 participating non-profit agencies that have passed the annual stringent review in order to receive your donations and deliver programs and services for our local individuals and families in need.
With the holidays upon us, the United Fund of Talbot County provides the perfect opportunity to help many agencies with a single holiday gift and help scores of county residents served by United Fund participating agencies benefit. Thousands in our community enjoy warmer homes through programs offered at the Neighborhood Service Center; hundreds of homebound elderly are fed due to the good work of Upper Shore Aging’s Meals on Wheels, dozens of youth are given guidance and support through their difficult adolescence by the efforts of Talbot Mentors. These are just a few of the examples of how the United Fund makes a difference in our community. Without you, these people and many more would just simply go without. Could there be a better gift than knowing you’ve made a difference in the lives of so many who will be touched by your support?
Every gift matters. Thanks to both returning and new contributors, the 2013-14 annual campaign has so far raised 58% toward its $400,000 goal. “We are delighted by the continued strong show of support,” Ann Jacobs, United Fund of Talbot County Executive Director said, “but we still have a long way to go in reaching this year’s campaign goal.” Most of the participating agencies are small with limited resources and rely heavily on the United Fund. They would be severely impacted without the generosity of our community. Please make this the season for year-end giving with the gift of hope and help for these deserving people.
